## Add a Flow Engine

1. Open **Applications** and the settings for **Flow Manager**.
2. Add a flow engine.
3. Enter the engine name, type, domain, and credential or connection values requested by the form.
4. Save the engine and application settings.
5. Confirm the engine reports `ready` before operators create flows.

The engine determines which protocols are available for inputs and outputs. Do not publish internal management addresses or credentials in operator-facing names or notes.

NDI deployments need a running NDI Discovery Server and correct host-level discovery settings. See [CLOUDflex Agent](/configure-cloudflex/cloudflex-agent/) for how supported deployment templates apply those settings inside an instance.

If an engine is offline, existing signal paths may not match the control state shown in Studio. Investigate engine and network health before repeatedly issuing start or stop commands.
